Celebrate with Lindon Spike 150—Commemoration Celebration

The 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad

In the past few months, we have shared information about railroads in Utah and in Lindon. We hope that you have enjoyed the history.  The Lindon Historical Preservation Committee will be hosting our Lindon Spike 150 Commemoration Celebration on Friday, May 10, 2019.

We invite you all …old, young and new, to join us from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pioneer Park (150 South 500 East) next to Rocky Mountain Elementary School. We will have games, horse and buggy/wagon rides and time to visit and enjoy each other. Please, bring a favorite dessert to share and let’s enjoy each other’s company and our community!

It is the ‘Year of the Train’ and people from across the world are coming to Utah to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. This historic, awe-inspiring act of human progress was a pivotal event in our nation’s and Utah’s history. It unified our rail systems, ushering in a new era of travel and industrial growth, and it positioned Utah as the Crossroads of the West—a distinction that continues to hold true today.

To commemorate this historic event, Spike 150 has partnered with organizations and communities across Utah to offer events that inspire Utahns to reflect on the past and continue to strive for greatness today and into the future. This celebration is an opportunity to reflect on past accomplishments and look ahead to the next big thing that can unite and inspire Utah, our nation and the world.” And Lindon, as well…
