The Lindon City Council held a special meeting, beginning at 5:30 P.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 in the Lindon City Center Council Chambers at 100 North State Street, Lindon, Utah.

The Minutes of the meeting of August 20, 2002 will be reviewed on September 3, 2002.
CURRENT BUSINESS
1. Executive Session - Acquisition of Real Property. The City Council will meet privately to discuss the purchase of real property. (UT Code 52-4-4)
COUNCILMEMBER DAIN MOVED TO ADJOURN THE CITY COUNCIL AND CONVENE THE EXECUTIVE SESSION IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM AT 5:45 P.M. COUNCILMEMBER HATCH SECONDED THE MOTION. ALL PRESENT VOTED IN FAVOR. THE MOTION CARRIED.
(Councilmember Acerson was excused at 6:00 p.m.)
COUNCILMEMBER DAIN MOVED TO ADJOURN THE EXECUTIVE SESSION AND RECONVENE THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING AT 6:08 P.M. COUNCILMEMBER BAYLESS SECONDED THE MOTION. ALL PRESENT VOTED IN FAVOR THE MOTION CARRIED.
2. Field Trip with Planning Commission - Access Management Issues for 700 North Street. The City Council and the Planning Commission will take a field trip to review several sites in the immediate area where access issues from commercial areas to particular streets are obvious. This is in anticipation of an access management plan for 700 North Street.
City Engineer Mark Christensen played a video that describes the problems and possible solutions to access management. He presented a handout and described the tour the members were about to embark on. The strategies for access management were discussed. The Councilmembers, Planning Commissioners, and staff members departed in a bus to tour sites in Orem, Provo and Lindon that demonstrated good and bad examples of access management. There was discussion concerning acceleration lanes, deceleration lanes, medians, access location and spacing, consolidation of driveways and residential access. The various examples were compared and explained. Conflicts and ways to improve traffic safety were explored.
COUNCILMEMBER HATCH MOVED TO ADJOURN AT 7:35 P.M. COUNCILMEMBER BAYLESS SECONDED THE MOTION. ALL PRESENT VOTED IN FAVOR. THE MOTION CARRIED.
